Alison Raven

My working career has always touched on the arts, from graphic and interior designer, to curator in a museum/gallery, to production manager in the publishing industry. Once I had children, I found I had very little time for my art, but joining Thou Art Mum in 2008 gave me an incentive to start creating and exhibiting again. I was a member until 2016, when I returned to full-time study (completing an Advanced Diploma in Jewellery and Object Design in 2018) and I continue to make jewellery as often as I can. I have worked in a variety of media, including photography, pen and ink drawing, painting, mosaicing and printmaking, particularly lino cutting. Much of my inspiration is drawn from the natural world; in the patterns and textures all around us, and in the unique flora of Australia. I often find that I return to a familiar theme for me; exploring my Viking origins and Raven surname.
