Wendy Kemp

I enjoy working with pastels and paper to create elegant, soft imagery. My art journey began in 2005 when my son started prep at Eltham North Primary School. On my way to pick him up one day, I happened to meet Katiuska, the founder of Thou Art Mum, who invited me to join the group. I nervously said yes, and I exhibited my work for the first time. It was great to have a theme to work towards and being part of such a supportive group really motivated me to be creative.

Since then, I’ve created art whenever time allowed, but it wasn’t until around 2018—when I began taking art classes—that I truly rediscovered my passion. This is when my love for pastels and paper grew, and I started dedicating more time to my practice.

My art has become a way for me to de-stress, slow down, and find joy in creating something light and beautiful.
